What to Wear to Your First Pole Class

Shorts, a tank or sports bra, and bare skin where you grip — here's exactly what to wear (and what to skip) for your first pole class.
For your first pole class, wear fitted shorts and a tank top or sports bra. Your skin is your grip on the pole, so thighs and arms need to be bare once you start spins. Bring layers — leggings and a hoodie — for warm-up and floorwork.
Skip lotion and oils on class day: they make the pole slippery and unsafe. Most studios have you go barefoot or in grip socks for your first class; heels come later, and only in heels-specific classes.
Bring water, a small towel, and arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign your waiver and meet your instructor.
